WHAT IS RINGETTE?

Ringette is a ice sport invented right here in Canada.  It was first introduced in 1963 in North Bay, Ontario by Mr. Sam Jacks.  Mr. Jacks had 3 boys that played hockey, but with a professional career in Recreation, he believed that girls should have the opportunity to play an ice sport.    He finalized the game and called it RINGETTE.  The game was designed to keep players moving and encourage participation.
For example, instead of being able to cross the blue line with while possessing the ring, you have to pass the ring across the line to your teammate.

Players use a straight stick to pass, carry and shoot a rubber ring.   Skating is a large part of the game. The obiect of the game is identical to hockey; score goals on the oppositions net. There is no intentional body contact allowed; even at the older levels.
